Fondazione Sozzani hosts Guido Harari, who presents Art Kane. Harlem 1958, a book published by Wall of Sound Gallery. The volume pays tribute to a crucial moment in American history through the work of one of its most legendary photographers: Art Kane. This book celebrates the 60th anniversary of one of the most famous images in the history of photography: now commonly known as Harlem 1958, the group shot of 57 jazz musicians, taken in the summer of 1958 in front of a building in Harlem, is one of the most imitated images in popular culture, created by one of the world’s greatest photographers. This book is the visual story of how that iconic image was created and includes, for the first time, every single frame of the historic photo shoot. With original text by Art Kane, forewords by Quincy Jones and Benny Golson (one of the last two living heroes immortalized in the photo), and an introduction by Kane’s son, musician and photographer Jonathan Kane.
