On the occasion of Milan PhotoWeek 2019, Fondazione Sozzani welcomes Roberto Mutti, who presents Altamont 1969, a book published by Damiani Editore featuring a new series of previously unpublished photographs of the huge festival at Altamont Speedway, in the hills of San Francisco, California. Owens, the only photographer able to capture that day, captured the desire of a generation to stand up and make their voices heard against the Vietnam War, against segregation and racial discrimination, against authority in general. The Altamont lineup included Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Crosby Stills Nash, Carlos Santana, and, above all, the Rolling Stones.
book presentation
Wednesday June 5th at 7PM
with Matteo Guarnaccia, artist and art critic
Roberto Mutti, historian and photography critic
Claudia Zanfi, art and landscape historian
