In 1955 the famous Danish designer and architect Arne Jacobsen created The Series Seven Chair, a chair become a truly global design icon.
The trademark of the chair is its timeless and unique design described by someone as a piece of art.
It has sold close to 6 million pieces since its introduction, and is probably one of the most copied chairs in the world – today 50 years after its introduction it’s more popular than ever.
In cooperation with the Danish AIDS-Fondet and in the fight against the spread of HIV in the African countries, the manufacturer of the chair Fritz Hansen, contacted a number of world class design brands with a challenge:
How would the Series Seven chair look today if you were given a free hand to design it?
The response from the brands was overwhelming resulting in 14 amazing chairs all with their own both surprising and distinctive designs.
The chairs are now on display at 10 Corso Como from February 23 until March 5.
“We are very happy to host an exhibition of these unique chairs, as the Series Seven chair is a masterpiece mix of art, craft and industry” says Carla Sozzani.
