I WAS A SARI – WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT BETWEEN THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND RESPONSIBLE CRAFTSMANSHIP
Friday November 14th 2025, via Tazzoli 3
Fondazione Sozzani hosts I was a Sari that presents a series of ornaments crafted in India from sari scraps and repurposed embroidery materials. Fragments of fabric once destined for waste are reimagined as symbols of beauty and renewal.
Each piece is hand-embroidered by women using traditional Aari and Zardosi techniques, skills once reserved only for men. More than decorative pieces, these ornaments embody circular craftsmanship and the spirit of conscious celebration, where creativity, care, and community come together in the most meaningful way.
