One hundred years ago, in 1921, 2, undisputed genius of the theater and protagonist of European culture, was born in Trieste. His dialogues with Francesca Pini, collected here, were recorded during the production of three documentaries, which the author of the book made for French television Arte, and which she chose not to include in those films. These pages reveal the most authentic Strehler, the man, perhaps even the “madman,” proponent of his own personal philosophy, who felt that theater was his destiny from a young age.
