Paolo Roversi was born in Ravenna in 1947. In 1970, still very young, he begins to collaborate with Associated Press. His photographic career makes a turning point in 1973, when he moves to Paris and begins to work in fashion photo- graphy, becoming soon one of the most recognized photographers in this field. He currently lives in Paris. “Una donna”, (a woman), was published in 1989: it is a work done by Roversi on the creations of Italian fashion designer Romeo Gigli. The book is a vision of woman that the photographer elaborates following his imagination. Women are portrayed in enchanted atmospheres, either with diffuse light and soft colors or with a preponderance of black in the background. In both cases, pictures are blurred and the subjects slightly out of focus. These elements reveil how mystery and the aura of feminine figure are a fundamental source of inspiration for Paolo Roversi’s photographs.
