Alice Franklin Open Shade

17th may 2000 - 25th june 2000

In the summer of 1999 Alice Franklin “discovered” the magic of the Hanbury Botanical Gardens: 112 acres of terraced land above the Mortola coast between Ventimiglia and Mentone. The magic of a place that has fascinated visitors and expert botanists for more than a century, along the paths in a garden that slopes gently down, amidst fountains, pavilions and countless varieties of tropical plants creating extraordinary botanical paintings and panoramic views of the coast.
